Progress towards Millennium Development Goals 4, 5 and 6 in the WHO European Region: 2011 Update

As called for by Regional Committee for Europe Resolution EUR/RC57/R2, this report constitutes the biennial update on the progress made towards the health-related Millennium Development Goals in the European Region. It draws on the most recent data sources available, as of July 2011, for Millennium Development Goals 4, 5 and 6 on, respectively, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health, and combating HIV/AIDs, malaria and other diseases (including tuberculosis).

Following up on the commitments to action in the outcome document of the United Nations Highlevel Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly on the Millennium Development Goals, the report also conveys policy considerations for accelerating progress towards each of the health-related Millennium Development Goals in the European Region.
