Election of Regional Director 2020

The Director-General informs each Member of the Region, at least 11 months before the opening session of the Regional Committee at which a person is due to be nominated as Regional Director, that he will receive proposals for the names of candidates for nomination by the Regional Committee as Regional Director.

Any Member of the Region may propose the name or names of one or more persons, each of whom has indicated willingness to act as Regional Director, submitting with each proposal particulars of the person’s qualifications and experience.

The 69th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe has nominated by secret ballot at a private meeting on 17 September 2019 Dr Hans Kluge,  who had been proposed by Belgium, for the post of Regional Director for Europe.
