Bulgaria hosts subregional meeting on verification process for measles and rubella elimination
WHO/Europe has established a measles and rubella elimination goal with the target date set for 2015. In line with elimination activities, the European Regional Verification Commission for Measles and Rubella Elimination (RVC) was established in 2011 and Member States were urged to establish national verification committees (NVCs).
In collaboration with the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), WHO/Europe will be conducting three subregional meetings with NVCs and health authorities of Member States on the measles and rubella elimination verification process in 2013.
One of the three meetings will be held on 27–28 February 2013 in Sofia, Bulgaria for countries of central and south-eastern Europe, hosted by the Ministry of Health of Bulgaria.
The aim of the meeting will be to revise and discuss the verification framework with all actors involved in the process at national level. The event will be attended by approximately 60 participants, including delegations from Member States, RVC members, and staff and technical partners of ECDC and WHO/Europe.
