Workshop on task-shifting in maternal and newborn health in Europe
A group of policymakers from Bulgaria, Montenegro, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Slovenia, Ukraine and Kosovo met in Bled, Slovenia for a 2 day workshop on the WHO recommendations for task-shifting in maternal and newborn health.
The workshop was co-facilitated by health systems researchers from the Norwegian Knowledge Centre for the Health Services, as well as WHO staff from the Department of Reproductive Health and Research (WHO Headquarters) and from the WHO Regional Office for Europe.
Over the course of two days, policymakers were guided through the WHO recommendations, as well as considering their application to their settings. Participants were also instructed in the use of the innovative “Evidence to Decision” frameworks developed by the DECIDE Collaboration for use by policymakers. The DECIDE Collaboration is a multinational, European Union-funded project on developing better strategies to disseminate recommendations and support evidence-based decision making in health policy.
