'WHO Family' meeting in Poland

On the occasion of World Health Day a special event for WHO staff was held in the Country Office for Poland. On 20 April 2012, numerous former and current WHO co-workers gathered at the Office to share experiences and memories as well as discuss new developments in the Organization's work.

Since the establishment of WHO in 1948, many Poles have worked for the Organization in various country offices, regional offices and its headquarters in Geneva. They look back with emotion and pride at their work, having assisted in countries as remote to Poland as Mongolia, India or Bhutan.

The meeting was an excellent occasion to highlight efforts and public health gains made over the years, as well as to commemorate with a moment of silence all WHO staff who are no longer with us. All participants agreed that the 'WHO Family' in Poland will meet again next year!
