WHO supports Portugal in monitoring the impact of the crisis
At the request of the Portuguese Ministry of Health, WHO staff from the Division of Health Systems and Public Health visited Lisbon in February 2014 to determine how best to support the Ministry in its efforts to monitor the impact of the economic crisis on key health financing policy objectives. WHO has agreed to work with officials and academic researchers to analyse changes in financial risk protection and changes in the use and accessibility of health services during the crisis period. In both cases WHO is particularly interested in understanding the effects of any changes on poorer people and people with chronic conditions in line with the Health 2020 Policy Framework.
