WHO visits flood-affected region in the Russian Federation
A team from WHO/Europe last week visited the flood-affected town of Krymsk in the Krasnodar region in the southern part of the Russian Federation to express solidarity with the local health authorities and offer WHO’s assistance in recovery. The team provided the national health ministry staff with WHO guidelines on communication in health emergencies. The floods that occurred on 7–8 July 2012 affected more than 40 000 people and damaged about 5000 houses. A total of 171 people died.
