Professor Fimka Tozija (The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia)

Professor Tozija graduated in 1986 with a degree in medicine followed by a doctorate in medical sciences in 2002. After her studies, she worked  for seven years component coordinator and health specialist on a collaborative project with the World Bank to improve the cost-effectiveness and sustainability of the health system in her home country, and held the positions of President of the Management Board and Head of the Department for Social Medicine at the Institute of Public Health. She is currently Head of the Department for Social Medicine (at her alma mater) at  the Faculty of medicine of The Saints Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje, and a Policy Adviser at the Institute of Public Health.

Her work has focused on violence and traffic injury prevention, healthcare systems and management, health economics and social medicine — and she has contributed to over 200 peer-reviewed publications. She is also actively engaged in health policy at the international level through her work on several committees, including the Council of Europe’s Committee of Experts on Migrant Health and the Road Traffic Injury Research Network. She is also the national focal point for both the WHO network for violence and injury prevention, and a member of the Editorial Board of the South Eastern European Journal of Public Health.

Professor Tozija joined the EACHR in 2012.
