Professor Vasily Vlassov (Russian Federation)
Professor Vlassov graduated from the Saint Petersburg Academy of Military Medicine with a degree in general medicine in 1976 followed by a doctorate in 1992 on the topic of aviation, space and marine medicine. While he previously worked as a Head of Department at the Saratov State Medical University and as a Professor at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology’s Department for Mathematical Modelling in Medicine, he is currently President of the Society for Evidence Based Medicine and Chief Researcher at I.M.Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. His research work has focused on chronic disease epidemiology, development of clinical guidelines, ethics of medical practice and biomedical science.
Professor Vlassov is actively engaged in influencing national health policy through his memberships of the Russian National Bioethics Committee and the Formulary Committee of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. He is also on the review boards of six international medical science journals including the BMJ and the Lancet.
Professor Vlassov joined the EACHR in 2013.
