Professor Annette Boaz (United Kingdom)
Professor Boaz graduated with a degree in politics from Durham University in 1993. She also completed a master’s in social research at the University of Oxford and a doctorate in politics at Queen Mary University of London. She is currently Professor of Health Care Research at St George’s, University of London and Kingston University. Prior to her current role she has worked at the universities of Oxford and Warwick, Queen Mary University of London and King’s College London. She also completed a secondment to the Policy Research Programme at the United Kindom’s Department of Health.
She has spent more than 20 years exploring the relationship between research, policy and practice in the United Kingdom and internationally. Until recently she was joint Managing Editor of the international journal Evidence & Policy. She has conducted research for a range of funders including the United Kingdom’s National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), the Medical Research Council and the European Commission. She supports a number of national initiatives aimed at increasing capacity for research use, including the NIHR Knowledge Mobilization Research Fellowship scheme and the UK Implementation Society.
