Professor Göran Tomson (Sweden)
Professor Göran Tomson graduated in 1973 with a degree in medicine and in 1990 with doctorate in health systems research from the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, where he currently holds the position of Professor in International Health Systems Research. His current research interests include universal health coverage in resource poor settings, the rational use of drugs, evidence informed health policies and the role of leadership and governance.
In addition to his research work, he is actively engaged in health systems policy internationally and has consulted governments from a number of countries. Professor Tomson is also a member of the Swedish Research Council´s Committee for Development Research, Chair of the Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee of the WHO Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research, and co-founder of International Network for Rational Use of Drugs. He also holds an honorary guest professorship at Shandong University in China.
Professor Tomson joined the EACHR in 2012.
