Poland's Ministry of Health established AHTAPol in 2005 as an advisory body to support decision-making. Its core activities comprise:
- evaluation of health care technology;
- assessment of medical procedures with a special focus on contracted services;
- collection, provision and dissemination of the results, methodology and recommendations of health technology assessments (HTAs) generated within or outside Poland; and
- recommendation of medical procedures to the Minister of Health.
The agency also participates in coordinating work on the basic benefit package, and in developing Polish guidelines for producing HTA reports. AHTAPol is a member of the International Network of Agencies for Health Technology Assessment (INAHTA).

AHTAPol's web site reports on HTAs, current initiatives and activities, new projects, publications in the field and upcoming events. Information is available in Polish only, but an English version is under construction.
