The fifth in this series of annual publications, Core Health Indicators in the WHO European Region 2016 provides insight into the big picture of health in the 53 Member States of the Region. It covers the main health domains by focusing on Health 2020 indicators combined with an annual special these: health status of the population, main determinants of health and risk factors as well as background demographic and socioeconomic indicators.

The 2016 edition has a special focus on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development presenting selected graphs and maps on key SDG-related topics of particular relevance to the European Region such as inequalities, universal health coverage, social determinants, risk factors and NCDs.

The information is compiled from data generated nationally by health and statistical authorities and regionally by WHO and other international agencies.
