Meeting report

Despite progress in improved access and quality of family planning services, access to good-quality abortion services and post-abortion family planning remains a challenge in many countries of the WHO European Region. This meeting disseminated new WHO recommendations on safe abortion care and encouraged participating Member States to act on their responsibility for health in providing adequate health and social measures and respect for human rights.

WHO has updated the guidelines on safe abortion. This publication could serve as an effective process in analysis of technical and legal barriers in improving access to safe abortion care and improving the health of women in the European Region.
