Sentinel survey on hepatitis B and C prevalence among health care workers in the Republic of Moldova
The Republic of Moldova has a high estimated prevalence of viral hepatitis B and C, which results in significant morbidity and mortality. WHO technically and financially supports the sentinel survey project on hepatitis B and C prevalence among health care workers involved with invasive procedures. Several hospitals across the country are participating.
The survey will supplement existing data from another sentinel survey on hepatitis prevalence that the country conducts among other at-risk population groups (such as injecting drug users, men who have sex with men and sex workers). The results will be available in 2010.
