Scaling up the response to malaria in the WHO European Region: progress towards curbing an epidemic 2000–2004

2005 This report reviews the malaria situation in the WHO European Region, with particular emphasis on failures of the past eradication efforts, the reasons behind and the extent of the resurgence of malaria and the progress made towards curbing an epidemic over the past five years. Regional priorities, with the purpose of consolidating the results achieved, and of moving further from malaria control to elimination within affected countries of the Region have been also discussed.
