UK healthcare workforce brought together to address hospital infections
The United Kingdom is a major advocate for action to reduce infections in hospital settings. Tackling antibiotic resistant infections plays a major role in this.
On 4 June 2013, WHO/Europe participated in a national conference in the United Kingdom (UK) entitled “Reducing Healthcare Associated Infection in Hospitals (HCAIs) 2013 - Addressing the challenges”, to raise awareness of the European Strategic action plan on antibiotic resistance and WHO’s renewed efforts to take action on this. The event, organised by Govtoday, a digital media platform on public sector and government news, focused on bringing the whole UK healthcare workforce together, from senior managers to infection control nurses, clinicians and pharmacists to facilitate open dialogue and discussion between key stakeholders.
Dr Danilo Lo Fo Wong, senior adviser antimicrobial resistance, spoke on behalf of WHO/Europe.
