6th annual meeting and 2nd conference of HEPA Europe
Ninety-nine delegates from 24 European countries attended the 6th annual meeting of HEPA Europe, as well as representatives from the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the European Commission (EC).The meeting took place in Olomouc, Czech Republic, on 24-26 November 2010 and was kindly hosted by the Faculty of Physical Culture of the Palacký University.
Participants reviewed activities of the last year and discussed and endorsed the new work programme 2010/2011.
Four HEPA Europe working groups - on physical activity promotion in children and youth; on monitoring and surveillance; on HEPA promotion in health care settings; and on Sport Clubs for Health - held parallel meetings to plan next steps.
Two new working groups were established on physical activity promotion and injury prevention and on promotion of physical activities at the workplace.
The 2nd HEPA Europe conference, focusing on “Health-enhancing physical activity in the 21st century: environmental and social influences and approaches” was attended by over 160 delegates from about 30 European countries as well as from Canada, the United States and Australia, the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the European Commission (EC). It featured 8 key note lectures, 16 oral and 80 poster presentations.
