Implementation of the Global Health Professions Student Survey
WHO/Europe and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have implemented the Global Health Professions Student Survey (GHPSS) in 20 European countries. All countries surveyed medicine (M), 12 countries surveyed pharmacy (P), 12 countries surveyed dentistry (D) and 10 countries surveyed nursing (N).

2010 – Ten new countries conducted GHPSS, including four of the five that had previously done the pilot study in 2009. The new countries are: Georgia (D,M,N,P), Italy (M), Israel (P,D,M), Malta (D,M,N,P), Poland (D,M), Portugal (P,D,M), Romania (M), Spain (M), the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (D,M,N,P) and Ukraine (M). Armenia (D,M,N,P), Slovakia (D,M,N,P) and Turkey (M) conducted the second round of GHPSS.
- 2009 – Two new countries: Greece (M,N) and Latvia (D,M,N,P). Five countries conducted a pilot study with the intent of expanding into representative GHPSS sample in near future: Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and Ukraine.
- 2008 – Another three countries joined the group: Kazakhstan (M), Kyrgyzstan (D,M,N,P) and Republic of Moldova (D,M,N,P)
- 2007 – Two new countries implemented the GHPSS project: Slovenia (D,M,P) and Turkey (M,N).
- 2006 – 2006 – Five new countries joined the project: Armenia (D,M,N,P), Czech Republic (D,M,N,P), Lithuania (D,M,N,P), Russian Federation (D,M,P), (D,M,P)-Exp and Slovakia (D,M,N,P). Two countries expanded into other disciplines: Bosnia and Herzegovina (D,M,P) and Serbia (N).
- 2005 – Four countries were the first to implement GHPSS in the European Region: Albania (D,M,N,P), Bosnia and Herzegovina (N), Croatia (M) and Serbia (D,M)
