Implementation of the Global Youth Tobacco Survey
33 countries in the WHO European Region have successfully implemented the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS). Of those, 15 countries have completed the second round, 9 countries have completed the third round and 1 country has completed the fourth round.
- 2014 – Three countries are repeating GYTS for the second round: Georgia, Italy and Tajikistan. Three countries are repeating GYTS for the third round: Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Montenegro. Two countries are repeating GYTS for the fourth round: Hungary and Lithuania.
- 2013 – One new country: Portugal. Two countries repeated GYTS for the second round: Greece and Uzbekistan. Four countries repeated GYTS for the third round: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Romania and Serbia.
- 2012 – One new country: Finland. One country repeated GYTS for the third round: Hungary. One country repeated GYTS for the fourth round: Turkey
- 2011 – One new country has implemented GYTS: Azerbaijan. One country has completed GYTS, second round: Cyprus. Five countries have completed GYTS, third round: Croatia, Czech Republic, Latvia, Slovakia and Slovenia
- 2010 – Two new countries implemented GYTS: Italy and San Marino
- 2009 – Four countries repeated GYTS, second round: Albania, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Romania. Four countries repeated GYTS, third round: Bulgaria, Lithuania, Poland and Turkey.
- 2008 – One new country: Uzbekistan. Nine countries repeated GYTS, second round: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Georgia, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro and Serbia.
- 2007 – Six countries repeated GYTS, second round: Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
- 2005 – One new country: Cyprus. Three countries repeated GYTS, second round: Lithuania, Turkey and Ukraine.
- 2004 – 10 new countries: Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Greece, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Tajikistan.
- 2003 – Another nine countries joined the group: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Turkey. Two countries repeated GYTS: Poland and Russian Federation.
- 2002 – Four new countries implemented the GYTS project: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Georgia, Latvia.
- 2001 – One new country joined the project: Lithuania.
- 1999 – Three countries were the first to implement GYTS in the European Region: Poland, Russian Federation and Ukraine
