United Nations

The United Nations supports progress on tobacco policy and legislation through the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the United Nations Ad Hoc Interagency Task Force on Tobacco Control.

ECOSOC is the principal organ coordinating the economic, social, and related work of the 14 United Nations specialized agencies, functional commissions and 5 regional commissions.

The Task Force coordinates the tobacco control work carried out by United Nations agencies. It is chaired by WHO and comprises 17 agencies of the United Nations system and 2 other organizations.
