Event description:
On 30 May, the NIPH hosted the 13th ascent to Snezka, the highest Czech mountain, as a symbol of clean air for everyone. This action was a good opportunity for different collaborating institutions, including non-profit organizations, to form coalitions. Furthermore, this action markedly aroused increasing interest of mass-media and thus helps to diffuse the health message among the public and to increase the general awareness of harmful effects of smoking. During the past 13 years of the ascent, four Ministers of Health, several members of the Parliament, Chief Public Health Officer, representatives of the League Against Cancer, Czech Red Cross, Health Cities Network, and Czech Olympic Committee have participated. Approximately 80 people participated this year.
A Czech version of the WNTD 09 poster has been created and distributed to all regions of the country, as well as other information based on WHO documents. Additionally, a press release was prepared for WNTD.
