The meeting was organized by the WHO European Centre for Environment and Health of the WHO Regional Office for Europe, in cooperation with WHO headquarters. The main objective was to discuss methodologies for assessing the risk of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) to human health and, in particular, experiences in assessing exposure to EDCs, health surveillance, and the design and performance of epidemiological studies, as well as of building the capacity necessary to address problems related to EDCs at the national and international levels. Next steps were agreed to facilitate activities aimed at identifying risks to human health from EDCs and supporting countries in implementing the relevant commitments made at the Third Session of the International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM), Nairobi, Kenya, 17-21 September 2012 and the Fifth European Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health in Parma, Italy, 10-12 March 2010.
