Implementing WHO Global Strategy in Europe
The WHO Global Plan of Action for Workers’ Health 2008–2017 guides work both the global and regional levels. Work in the European Region aimed:
- to establish a European network for workers’ health;
- to develop a regional work plan, in agreement between key stakeholders.
The network supports Member States and WHO in implementing the Global Plan. International partners such as the International Labour Organization (ILO), the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), the International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH) and the International Trade Unions Confederation are invited to join. WHO/Europe serves as secretariat.
The final draft of the European work plan for implementing the Global Plan was developed with the participation of the national focal points and WHO collaborating centres in 2008-2009. During this process, representatives of WHO, ILO and the European Union discussed with invited delegates from Member States steps towards carrying out international and national strategies on occupational health.
