Consultations advance towards Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health

WHO European Member States, WHO/Europe, United Nations organizations and other organizations and stakeholders have advanced discussions ahead of the Sixth Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health, to be held on 13–15 June 2017 in Ostrava, Czechia.

They met at the Tenth Meeting of the Ad Hoc Working Group of the European Environment and Health Task Force in Frankfurt, Germany, on 24 March 2017. There, they advanced the drafting of the Conference’s outcome documents and completed discussions on future institutional arrangements for the European Environment and Health Process.

The group also finalized advanced draft documents for the last round of discussions before the Conference. These discussions will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 10–11 April 2017.

European Environment and Health Process

The European Environment and Health Process is an international policy platform. Since 1989, it has brought together ministries of health and environment of the 53 Member States in the WHO European Region to address environmental and health challenges through intersectoral policies. The Process is co-led by WHO/Europe and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

Sixth Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health

The Conference will bring together health and environment ministers and high-level representatives of WHO European Member States, partner organizations, academia and civil society. Member States are expected to adopt a reformed governance mechanism for the Process during the Conference.
