Palliative care
Evidence from several European countries suggests that the vast majority of people would prefer to die in their own homes, yet the current trend is towards dying in hospital.
Palliative care is largely a neglected topic in Europe. WHO/Europe highlights its importance with two publications: Palliative care: the solid facts and Better palliative care for older people. They provide policy-makers and health advocates with strong evidence suggesting that palliative care can make a dramatic difference in the quality of life of the dying and those who care for them.
