Webinars

Understanding the cultural contexts and history of health can help the global health community respond to present-day challenges. This is the philosophy underpinning our Culture and Health webinars that are now entering its second year. The webinars examine the historical and cultural contexts of current global health issues, featuring interdisciplinary panels of academics and policy-makers. All webinars are live- streamed, with remote audiences encouraged to watch online and ask questions.

The webinars aim to engage a broad audience of policy-makers, academics and the public in cultural and historical approaches to global health.

The webinars are a collaboration between the Division of Information, Evidence, Research and Innovation at WHO/Europe and 2 WHO collaborating centres, the Centre for Global Health Histories at the University of York and the Wellcome Centre for Cultures and Environments of Health at the University of Exeter.

The Culture and Health webinar series builds on the success of the Global Health Histories (GHH) seminars, which are a collaboration between the Centre for Global Health Histories and WHO. Launched in 2004, the GHH series – over the course of more than 100 seminars – has provided a space to initiate conversations on topical health issues across the traditional divides of academic, United Nations, professional and public spheres. This Culture and Health webinar series have been kindly supported by and incorporated with the work of our collaborating centres at University of York and University of Exeter.
