Conference – The health of prisoners in Tuscany 10 years after the reform

16 May 2018, Florence, Italy

The aim of the conference was to take stock of the state of health of the people detained in Tuscany 10 years after the entry into force of the prison health reform (DPCM, 1 April 2008). During these years, the process of change has been constantly monitored through a survey conducted in all Tuscan detention facilities, thanks to which the health needs of these citizens have been highlighted. The fourth survey, completed in February 2018, represents an opportunity to pause and outline the first regional trends on the health of prisoners, and analyse the changes and actions yet to be taken. The conference was aimed at: professionals, health and social workers operating in the Tuscany region; professionals in the justice and regional health system; and interested civil society representatives.
