Video – Bringing health services closer to people in Kyrgyzstan

Kyzylgul is one of 12 community health volunteers in her hometown, Jyrgalan, in the far eastern part of Kyrgyzstan. She has been a volunteer since 2005, when the Community Action for Health initiative started, to bring primary health care services closer to peoples’ homes. The initiative, which is an example of a practical step towards universal health coverage, has improved the detection of hypertension in the country, and has helped promote good health practices and behaviours. This film, produced with financial support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, showcases Kyrgyzstan’s experience as an inspiring best practice.
