There is also a need to document the associated economic burden of mental illness, as well as the economic return (or “cost–effectiveness”) of interventions aiming to address the problem. The paper consists of two sections:
(i) the economic consequences of child and adolescent mental illness; and
(ii) evidence on the economic evaluation of interventions.
Both sections include the main findings from a systematic review of the European evidence over the last five years.
