Background

This document summarizes current WHO guidance for public health surveillance of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in humans caused by infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).

Purpose of this document

This document provides guidance to Member States on the implementation of surveillance for COVID-19 disease and the SARSCoV-2 virus that causes it, and the reporting requirements for WHO.
