Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) updates

Globally, as of 3 July 2015, 1363 cases including 487 deaths due to MERS-CoV have been reported to WHO. The majority of cases have occurred in Saudi Arabia, as well as in multiple other countries of the Arabian Peninsula. On 20 May 2015, the Republic of Korea reported its first laboratory-confirmed case of MERS-CoV. As of 3 July 2015, 184 cases in the Republic of Korea including 33 deaths have been confirmed. All transmission has been linked to health care facilities where MERS patients were treated.
