Zika virus was detected in the Americas in 2015. The risk of a Zika virus disease outbreak in the European Region similar to that seen in the Americas in 2015-16 was assessed as moderate-to-low, mainly because the mosquito that is known to be responsible for the outbreak in the Americas (Aedes aegypti) is not widely present in Europe.

Ebola outbreak in West Africa and the risk to Europe
The 2014–2016 outbreak in West Africa was the largest Ebola outbreak since the virus was first discovered in 1976, counting over 28,000 people affected by the diseases and over 11,000 losing their life to it. Despite very few imported cases, the risk of a widespread outbreak in Europe remained very low.
