Health needs assessment: Malta

The WHO Europe assessment mission to Malta was initiated following a letter of support by the WHO Regional Director for Europe to the Minister for Health, the Elderly and Community Care in Malta, in the context of the evolving crisis in North Africa, in particular in the Libyan Arab Jamahirya. The main objective of the mission was to look into the current status of preparedness of the Maltese health system to cope with the public health consequences of a potential mass influx of migrants and refugees triggered by the crisis in North Africa and to provide recommendations on how to improve international cooperation of preparedness efforts. The mission took place 16-18 March 2011.
