Years of conflict in the Syrian Arab Republic have left hundreds of thousands of people injured, ill or dead.

Over 13.2 million people are in need of health assistance within the country and more than 6.2 million are internally displaced. Of the over 5.3 million people who have sought refuge in neighbouring countries, 3.6 million are now in Turkey. Under the whole-of-Syria approach, WHO and its health partners provide health services to Syrian refugees in Turkey, and to populations in northern Syria from Turkey.

Under the whole-of-Syria approach, WHO and its health partners

  • support the Turkish Ministry of Health in providing medical services to Syrian refugees in Turkey; and
  • deliver lifesaving medical supplies and services to northern Syria through cross-border operations.
