WHO Collaborating Centre (CC) objectives
- Assist WHO in the development, dissemination and implementation of the WHO European Mental Health Action Plan and the global mental health action plan.
- Support WHO in the coordination of mental health activities in central Asia with focus on primary mental health care competence development, and psychological and psychiatric crisis interventions at community level.
- Continue to develop mental health services and competent human resources, together with WHO, in line with international health policies.
- Collect relevant data and contribute to analysis of trends in mental health development together with WHO.
Contributions
The WHO CC takes responsibility for providing research on the dynamics in the incidence of mental disorders, including suicide, in the Russian Federation and the central Asian states. It supports WHO initiatives in the development of new organizational models on prevention and treatment of neurosis, and stress-related and somatoform disorders.
The WHO CC also focuses on the quality assurance of diagnostic, care and rehabilitation of patients with schizophrenia in central Asian states (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), complementing WHO initiatives, as well as optimizing national mental health care services.
