WHO Collaborating Centre (CC) objectives
- Assist WHO in the development of tools for quality management in mental health services.
- Improve training and education of health professionals on quality management within mental health care in consultancy with WHO.
- Develop the chapter on mental disorders and substance abuse of International Classification of Diseases, eleventh revision (ICD-11) in cooperation with WHO.
Contributions
In collaboration with WHO, the WHO CC takes on responsibility to provide Member States with guidance and support in the field of research and practice within quality management in mental health care. Its initiatives include strategies and guidelines on quality management and assessment of quality of care in mental health care. This involves methods for monitoring, outcome assessment and quality improvements, as well as instruments for patient safety and satisfaction.
The WHO CC also provides support to Member States in terms of training material on quality of care and specialized training including education for medical and mental health professionals. Moreover, it assists WHO in the content development of ICD-11.
About the LVR-Klinikum Düsseldorf
LVR-Klinikum Düsseldorf serves both as a psychiatric and psychosomatic-psychotherapeutic clinic and as a university hospital. Sponsored by the Rhineland Regional Council, it is the first psychiatric clinic in Germany to be recognized as a WHO CC. The Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy holds a combination of treatment, training, education and research facilities.
LVR-Klinikum Düsseldorf promotes community psychiatric assistance and programmes that contribute to the development of new forms of care within outpatient psychiatric care.
