Preparing the environment and health agenda - Third meeting of the European Environment and Health Task Force (EHTF)
Brussels, Belgium, 10–11 December 2013
The mid-term review and the Sixth Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health (scheduled for 2014 and 2016, respectively) are the next big milestones of the European environment and health process. Discussion to prepare for them will start with the third meeting of the Task Force.
Other main objectives of the meeting are:
- to review progress towards the achievement of the Parma commitments (2010–2014);
- to elect co-chairs from the health sector for the period between the third and fourth Task Force meetings and from the environment sector for the period between the fourth and fifth meetings;
- to establish the standing working group on the implementation of the European framework for action on climate change and health;
- to review governance aspects of the environment and health process and adopt an intersession workplan for the Task Force.
The Fifth Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health, held in Parma, Italy in 2010, established the Task Force, which is the leading international body for implementation and monitoring of the environment and health process. The Task Force’s third meeting will gather officials from Member States in the WHO European Region, as well as representatives of intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations participating in the environment and health process.
