International training course on strengthening TB control in prisons of M/XDR-TB high-burden countries
5–9 June 2017, Baku, Azerbaijan
Together with the WHO Collaborating Centre on Prevention and Control of tuberculosis (TB) in Prisons and the Medical Department of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan, WHO/Europe is offering an international training course on strengthening TB control in prisons of multidrug and extensively drug-resistant TB (M/XDR-TB) high-burden countries.
The agenda incorporates key aspects of TB control programmes that are specific to prison environments. Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge on planning, implementing and monitoring effective TB services for detainees with respect to ethical and regulatory considerations. Participation will likely be limited to 16 people.
Audience
Policy-makers and health care providers involved in planning and implementing TB services in penal institutions of M/XDR-TB high-burden countries.
Main objective
Strengthen capacity for preventing and controlling TB and M/XDR-TB in penal institutions of M/XDR-TB high-burden countries, according to the latest evidence-based and internationally recognized policies and guidelines. This is part of the implementation of the global WHO strategy to end TB and of the TB action plan for the WHO European Region 2016–2020.
