Country experience on research on drug-resistant tuberculosis. Webinar One: the experience of Belarus
23 May 2019, 11:00–12:00 CEST
WHO/Europe is hosting a series of 6 1-hour webinars on drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) research to facilitate and foster exchange of knowledge from national experiences. In each webinar, a country will share its experience in conducting research on DR-TB prevention and care, followed by questions from the audience and discussion.
In the first webinar, the deputy director of scientific research at the Republican Scientific and Practical Centre for Pulmonology and Tuberculosis in Minsk, Belarus, will present Belarus’ experience in implementing the modified short oral treatment regimen for DR-TB, focusing on participation in clinical trials and operational research. Following this, the webinars will take place every second month.
The sessions target all groups of people with an interest in DR-TB research, such as WHO collaborating centres, civil society groups, researchers at national level, and core group members of the WHO European Tuberculosis Research Initiative (ERI-TB) and its wider network. Participation is open to anyone interested. Participants are welcome to submit questions for a live question-and-answer session with the country representative.

The expert group on DR-TB research
The expert group on DR-TB research has recently been established by WHO/Europe to improve and support DR-TB research in the WHO European Region. The group comprises experts in the field of DR-TB, including clinicians, academics, civil society representatives and (ex)patient groups. The webinars are one of its activities.
