About Panorama
Public Health Panorama is the journal of the WHO Regional Office for Europe. It provides a platform to scientists and public health practitioners for the publication of lessons learned from the field, as well as original research work, to facilitate the use of evidence and good practice for public health action.
Scope
The scope of Public Health Panorama is broad. We promote articles on public health, primary health care, epidemiology, health administration, health systems, health economics, health promotion, public health nutrition, communicable and non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, occupational and environmental health, social and preventive medicine, health information and statistics that have the potential to promote evidence-informed public health actions in the 53 Member States of the Region. The main components of Public Health Panorama are editorials, commentaries, perspectives, state-of-the-art reviews, policy and practice, reports from the field, letters to the editor, interviews and book reviews.
Mission
The mission of Public Health Panorama is to contribute to improving health in the Region by publishing and providing timely and reliable research, evidence, information and data for public health decision-making.
Mission objectives:
- to bridge the research and dissemination gaps between the eastern and western parts of our Region;
- to publicize country-specific and regional good practices and case studies with a particular focus on public health, health systems and intersectoral collaboration for health (Health 2020); and
- to enable health professionals in all fields to remain informed about public health developments in the Region.
Public Health Panorama features, in particular, country insights that exemplify the implementation of Health 2020, the European policy framework for health and well-being. Health 2020 makes the case for investment in health and for creating societies where health is valued. It details the ways in which good health benefits the whole of society. Good health is vital for economic and social development and supports economic recovery.
Public Health Panorama addresses all members of the health profession, medical and other health educational institutes, and governmental and nongovernmental organizations in the area of public health within and outside the Region.
Public Health Panorama is peer reviewed, with papers submitted and published in English and Russian. It is available in electronic format, and is in keeping with the strategic objectives of WHO to make health information accessible. All issues are available online free of charge.
