Meeting with OECD: building on the health information “bedrock”

On 16 June, Mr Mark Pearson, Head of the Health Division at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), met with Ms Zsuzsanna Jakab, WHO Regional Director for Europe, to build on the excellent collaboration between the two organizations. In addition to working together on health information, the bedrock of current collaboration, they discussed the possibility of expanding cooperation to areas such as the new European health policy, the quality of care, health promotion, pharmaceuticals and alcohol.

Ms Jakab and Mr Pearson agreed on the importance of coordinated policy messages from both organizations, and exchanged invitations to the sixtieth session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe in September and the OECD Health Ministerial Meeting in October 2010.
