WHO, FAO, OIE and UNEP join efforts to raise awareness of rabies in the Russian Federation

The Tripartite Plus Alliance – WHO, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) – together with Russian government agencies in Moscow marked World Rabies Day on 28 September 2020.

At the virtual event, key experts in public and animal health and environment issues presented recent scientific discoveries and practical solutions for the prevention and eradication of rabies. The conference aimed at raising awareness of the problem and securing the commitment of major players to strengthen multilateral and intersectoral cooperation to reach zero human deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2030 in the Russian Federation.
