National workshop on reorganization of school health services and referrals

Acknowledging that school health services are well placed to help improve young people’s health status, knowledge, skills and attitudes and to promote health and prevent disease, the Ministry of Health of Tajikistan asked WHO to provide technical support for the process of reforming the organization of school health services. This work included a national workshop held by WHO and the Ministry on 1–3 June 2011:

• to review available school health services within existing health strategies;
• to review the best international experience with organizing school health services and relevant evidence;
• to recommend which health services should be available at schools, and what follow-up activities should take place to reorganize school health services and referrals.
