10 countries participate in subregional consultation on antimicrobial consumption
In the framework of WHO/Europe's Antimicrobial Medicines Consumption (AMC) Network, a subregional consultation for Russian-speaking countries took place in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova on 17–18 February 2016. The participating countries were Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan and Ukraine.
Representatives of ministries of health, drug regulatory authorities and academia discussed the results of data collection on antimicrobial consumption in WHO AMC network countries in 2013 and finalized their input on the findings for future publication. Also, the 2014 AMC data call was launched, and participants were introduced to the updated protocol for data collection, and discussed the next stage of data collection and analysis.
An important part of the discussion was dedicated to evaluating experiences with the AMC Network, and planning country-specific consultations and policy action follow-up to address findings on use of antimicrobial medicines in AMC Network countries.
