Report of a meeting held in Bonn, Germany, on 25-26 November 2010

Experts from 35 countries of the WHO European Region and three international institutions defined the minimum set of indicators for monitoring the commitments made at the Fifth Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health in Parma, Italy, to reduce the health effects of environmental hazards in children. Using a set of pre-defined criteria, such as public health impact, feasibility, interpretability, data comparability and sustainability of data collection efforts, the meeting selected 18 environmental health indicators addressing five time-bound Parma Conference commitments. The meeting also scheduled the development of methodologies, data collection protocols and the implementation of these indicators in ENHIS, and specified communication mechanisms within the European Environment and Health Process.

ENHIS is maintained by the WHO European Centre for Environment and Health (ECEH), Bonn Office.
