World Statistics Day 2016 – be a data explorer

Good data and statistics are indispensable for informed decision-making by people and policy-makers. As countries and organizations work towards implementing the ambitious 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, reliable and timely statistics and indicators are more important than ever.

The term “health information” refers to all the information, data and evidence on health that facilitates policy-making. It is a crucial element in WHO/Europe's efforts to reduce health inequalities in the Region. The WHO European Health Information Gateway, launched earlier this year, provides curated, reliable health data and information presented in formats that are easy to understand, compare and extract.

On World Statistics Day 2016, WHO/Europe experts share statistics that drive their work, and they encourage everyone to become a data explorer by visiting the European Health Information Gateway.
