Provision of people-centred health services is a desired core function of strong, equitable, and responsive health systems. Despite its potential to improve health outcomes, increase quality of care, and reduce waste of societal resources in the WHO European Region, many challenges surrounding its design and implementation remain. These challenges have risen to the top of the Health 2020 agenda and are increasingly becoming a focus of policy dialogue on health system reform. The aim of this document is to present a concise guide to the underlying  philosophy, working definitions, and practical aspects of peoplecentred health services delivery that might assist Member States with the formulation of strategic policy directions and the modernization of care management processes.
