Health technologies and pharmaceuticals programme. Annual report 2017

The Health Technologies and Pharmaceuticals (HTP) Programme key achievements in 2017 included providing technical assistance to countries related to analysis, evidence creation and policy action, as well as training linked to access to medicines and universal health coverage (UHC).

Pharmaceuticals represent large budget components for health systems, and pharmaceutical cost containment is in focus in many countries. WHO has organized consultations and training in the use of methodologies, policies and regulation, fostering access to quality-assured affordable medicines and medical devices among countries in the Region.

The HTP Programme’s work helps to shape policy reform at the national and subregional levels.
