Key document on HIV response in people who inject drugs revised

A joint publication by WHO, UNODC and UNAIDS, Technical guide for countries to set targets for universal access to HIV prevention, treatment and care for injecting drug users, was broadly recognized as a key document for designing programmes for people who inject drugs since it was published in 2009.

The Guide now provides a more user-friendly framework of how to measure progress in implementation of the nine interventions of the package. The revisions were informed by a pilot study of the first guide in five countries undertaken in 2010, a global review of available data and relevant data collection systems, and consultations with experts from around the world.
